Kajabi (2026) — who it’s actually for
Kajabi is a business OS for experts who already have something to teach. Public Basic is $179/mo. Existing customers hit new rates on the first billing date on or after January 13, 2026. Keeping Stripe on a new plan costs extra.
Who this page is for
Experts with a method, deciding whether Kajabi is the host — not whether they should invent an offer. One flagship course, a cohort, a membership, or coaching. You would otherwise buy a player, email, landing pages, and checkout separately.
This is not a Kajabi vs everyone table. Those live on Kajabi vs Teachable vs Thinkific, Kajabi vs Skool, and Thinkific vs Kajabi for cohort / live programs. This page is Kajabi on its own terms: plans, the 2026 hike, and the 3rd-party surcharge.
The short version
What it is
Official line: the operating system for human expertise. Products, marketing, payments, and delivery in one workflow. Pricing FAQ: courses, coaching, digital products, memberships, communities.
You pay for
Landing pages, email, funnels, checkout, a course player, coaching, and a community — whether you open all of it or not.
You do not get
A public Kickstarter-priced tier. SCORM. A cheap first experiment. The January 2026 update is the first increase in ~10 years.
Actually for
One-offer experts who will run the whole business on one stack: sales page, email, checkout, delivery. A live cohort or membership that should not live in three other tools.
Fits
A consultant or coach with one method. Basic’s 5 products and 2,500 contacts are surplus for one flagship. You are buying the OS, not a catalog ceiling.
Skip
If email and checkout already work elsewhere and you only need a player — Thinkific Basic is the cheaper recorded-library host.

What you are actually buying
Courses. Official FAQ: evergreen (self-paced on purchase) or cohort (scheduled groups with live video). Drip, quizzes, certificates, no lesson cap. Videos are view-only unless you enable downloads. Not SCORM compliant.
Coaching. 1:1 and group. Built-in live video — no Zoom required; Zoom, Google Meet, Calendly, or Acuity optional. Group room up to 200 plus up to 20 breakout rooms of 10. Scheduling, notes, packages. Coaching is not currently in the Kajabi mobile app (mobile web only).
Communities. Access tied to product purchases. Private, paid, or tiered via Access Groups. Standalone or bundled. Channels inside a course. Meetups with a built-in live room. Leaderboard / gamification. Member app access. Cap: 1 / 1 / 3.
Memberships. Not a separate public plan. Official FAQ: a recurring Offer (weekly, monthly, or annual) connected to Products. You can bundle a course, a community, and downloads on one subscription. Membership is the content access; community is the social layer. Most successful setups combine both.
Unlimited marketing emails, landing pages, and funnels are on the public grid for every named plan. That is the argument for Kajabi against a $54 Thinkific player: you are not buying a school LMS. You are buying the tabs around it.
The January 13, 2026 increase
Official update page (“Upcoming changes to your Kajabi plan”): first price change in ~10 years. Quote, in substance: a price increase across all plans; for existing Heroes, new pricing takes effect on January 13, 2026. The same page: new rate on the first billing date on or after January 13, 2026. Plan migration is not required. If you stay on a legacy plan, features and limits stay the same; you do not get premium features or expanded limits on the new plans; pricing still moves to the new point.
Founder and Beta Invite plans are not impacted by the price change. Bespoke plans: see billing. Extra 5,000 contacts: $20 → $25 (update FAQ). Public API and Branded Mobile App, previously add-ons, are included on the new Pro plan (update FAQ).
This fetch did not extract old-vs-new dollar amounts as text from the official update page (likely images). Third-party recaps of $149→$179 exist. They are not in the table. We cite the public cards and the dated event, not a reconstructed legacy grid.
The 3rd-party Stripe surcharge
On new plans, in regions where Kajabi Payments is available, using Stripe (or another 3rd-party provider other than PayPal) adds 2% Basic / 1% Growth / 0.5% Pro. Official update FAQ: the fee covers maintaining 3rd-party providers inside Kajabi. It does not apply if you remain on your current (legacy) plan, if Kajabi Payments is not available in your region, or for PayPal in any region.
Kajabi Payments US help page (on top of the public grid rates): international cards +1.5%; subscriptions and payment plans +0.7% on every installment including the first; Kajabi Sales Tax $0.15 per transaction when enabled; invoicing +0.4%; dispute $15; no fee to refund, original fees not returned.
If you are staying on a legacy plan to keep Stripe without the surcharge, you are also staying off the new plan’s discounted Kajabi Payments rates and off features the update page lists as new-plan-only (including Cohort Courses on “certain new plans”). That trade is real. We are not telling you which way to migrate.
What the fees do to a simple offer
US card, Kajabi Payments, Basic grid rate. The 0.7% subscription add-on applies to memberships and payment plans, not to a one-time course paid in full.
- $97 one-time: 2.9%+$0.30 = $3.11. Keep Stripe on a new Basic plan: +2% = $1.94 plus Stripe’s own fee (Stripe’s schedule omitted).
- $97/month membership: $3.11 plus 0.7% ($0.68) = $3.79 on Kajabi Payments. Stripe-on-Basic: +$1.94 plus Stripe, and the 0.7% is a Kajabi Payments help-page line — not added on top of the 3rd-party percentage here.
- $497 cohort seat: $14.71 on Kajabi Payments. Stripe-on-Basic: +$9.94 plus Stripe.
- $2,000 package: $58.30 on Kajabi Payments. Stripe-on-Basic: +$40.00 plus Stripe. Growth’s 1% surcharge is $20.00; Pro’s 0.5% is $10.00 — still on top of Stripe.
There is no extra Kajabi platform percentage on Kajabi Payments. That is the honest comparison to Teachable Starter’s 7.5% and Thinkific’s 5/2/1% if you keep Stripe. We are not publishing a break-even month against those hosts; those pages already did the arithmetic.
Skip Kajabi if
You want the cheapest player for one recorded course and you will keep email and checkout somewhere else. Public Basic is $179/mo. You are paying for the bundle.
Also skip if you need a public Kickstarter-priced tier — it is not on kajabi.com/pricing today. Skip if you need SCORM. Skip more than one community on Basic or Growth, or more than three on Pro. Skip keeping Stripe on a new plan unless you have priced 2/1/0.5%.
If the offer is a feed and the room is the business, read Kajabi vs Skool before you pay for an OS you will not open.

Omitted on purpose
- Kajabi legacy dollar table (old $149 / $199 / $399 style figures). The official January 2026 update page confirms a price increase across all plans and the January 13, 2026 effective date. This fetch did not extract old-vs-new dollar amounts as text (likely images). Third-party recaps exist; they are not in the table.
- Kajabi Kickstarter as a buyable public price. Not listed on kajabi.com/pricing. The update page mentions the Kickstarter tier in plan-type copy. No public dollar amount cited here.
- JSON-LD $69 lowPrice on product pages. That is not a public plan card.
- Homepage “Save 50%” / Cofounder promo as a plan price. Marketing, not a cited tier.
- AI credits ($15/mo for 500; Backstage “details on limits and pricing are to be determined”). Not a reason to pick or skip the host tonight; omitted from the plan table as a decision input.
- Exact country-by-country Kajabi Payments schedules beyond the US help page and the public US grid.
- Keyword volumes, “is Kajabi worth it” rankings, and anything that sounds like we will document your method for you.
